Why You’ll Love Grilled Teriyaki Pork Chops (with Pineapple!)

Eating pork chops with pineapple never seemed appetizing to me…until I tried it, at which point I fell in love! There’s just something about the tangy sweetness of the pineapple that pairs perfectly with tender pork chops, so naturally, this recipe for Grilled Teriyaki Pork Chops has become my family’s holy grail meal for the summer!

I think the simple homemade teriyaki marinade takes this dish to the next level. There’s so much salty-sweet goodness that soaks into the pork chops as you marinate them overnight, and then when it hits the heat of the grill it creates a delicious glaze on the meat that’s simply divine. Plus, the marinade makes the pork even more juicy and moist!

I can’t wait for you to bite into a perfect morsel of your grilled teriyaki pork chop with a sliver of lightly grilled pineapple on top – it’s going to blow your mind!

Key Ingredients

The star of this dish isn’t even the meat itself, it’s the flavors. The combination of salty and sweet flavors in the teriyaki sauce is heavenly itself, but then you top the pork chops with juicy tart pineapple and your taste buds are really in for a surprise!

Teriyaki Marinade

For this pork chop marinade, you’re only going to need a few ingredients and you probably have all of them in your kitchen already! You can definitely use store-bought, but this recipe is so simple and delicious that I think you’ll wind up using this from now on. All you need is soy sauce, honey, olive oil, garlic, and ginger powder. Told you it’s easy!

Pineapple Slices

You’ll need one 20 oz can drained. You’ll lightly brush your pineapple slices with oil and grill them before serving.

Pork Chops

For this recipe I recommend 4-6 1-inch bone-in pork chops. I find bone-in is a more flavorful cut of meat, and it stays juicier throughout the grilling process.

Step By Step Instructions

All you’re going to do is make the marinade, and let it soak into your meat and grill. It’s so easy, and the smell, once it hits the grill, is going to have your neighbors knocking!

Step 1: Marinade

In a small bowl, combine the soy sauce, honey, olive oil, garlic, and ginger powder. Place the pork chops in a large resealable bag and pour the marinade over them. Seal them in a plastic bag and marinate for 8-24 hours in the refrigerator. Reserve a small amount of marinade in the fridge to brush over the pork chops before serving.

Step 2: Grill

Preheat the grill to medium-high heat while cleaning and oiling the grates. Place the pork chops on the grill and cook for 7 minutes, or until juices begin to pool up on the pork chop. Flip and grill for another 5 minutes, or until the pork chop is cooked through. Do not overcook or you’ll risk drying out your meat!

Step 3: Add Pineapples and Enjoy!

In the last couple minutes of grilling, brush your pineapple slices with a little cooking oil and place them on the grill to cook for 2-3 minutes per side. Serve them alongside the pork chops and any other sides of your choice. If you’d like, brush the reserved marinade over the pork chops before serving. Enjoy!

Variations

  • You can use chicken breasts instead of pork chops if that’s your preference! I’d still recommend serving them with the pineapple because regardless of the meat, the pineapple and teriyaki complement each other perfectly!
  • Or if you’re not a pineapple person, and I know it’s quite a divisive fruit, you can feel free to leave it out of this recipe and enjoy the teriyaki-soaked meat on its own with other sides of your choice.

Serving Suggestions

I think this meal is best served with a side of rice and a simple salad, but there are so many ways you can serve this dish! Here are some ideas…

However you decide to round out your Grilled Teriyaki Pork Chops, it’s sure to be a great summertime meal! Let me know how you like it!
