This easy Overnight Apple Baked French Toast is the perfect make-ahead breakfast! Bread soaked in cinnamon-spiced custard and layered with apples sprinkled with a streusel topping is baked to perfection! Enjoy this breakfast for a special occasion or a morning when you know you’ll be too busy to whip something up.
1loaf plainwhole wheat or multi grain french bread, cut into 1/2" slices
2large applessliced 1/4" thick
12eggs
2cups1/2 & 1/2
1/3cuphoney
1tablespoonvanilla
2teaspoonscinnamon
1/4teaspoonground clove
1/4teaspoonground ginger
Topping
3/4cupold fashioned oats
1teaspooncinnamon
2tablespoonsbutter
2tablespoonsbrown sugar
Instructions
Lightly grease a 9x13 baking pan. Alternate sliced bread and apples in greased baking pan and set aside.
In a large bowl combine the eggs, 1/2 & 1/2, honey, vanilla, cinnamon, clove and ginger. Pour over bread and apples. Cover and refrigerate overnight. Or you may bake immediately.
If removing from the refrigerator do so 30 minutes prior to baking.
To make the topping combine ingredients in a small bowl and cut in the butter until well combined. Sprinkle over the top of the bread and apples. Bake at 350 degrees F covered for 30 minutes and uncovered for 30 minutes or until knife inserted in center comes out clean.
Notes
Store in an airtight container or a freezer bag in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat it on the stovetop or in the microwave until warmed through.
