This classic Orange Fluff Salad recipe features whipped topping, orange jello, fruit, and cottage cheese. It’s a quick, cool, and creamy treat.
If you were a kid growing up in the 80s or early 90s, then you probably remember this dessert salad. It was at every potluck or gathering, and for good reason—IT’S SO GOOD! Since being married, I have continued making it for almost every family get-together because my kids love it.

COOL WHIP: You can use any brand or type of whipped topping you like. Be sure it is thawed before using. You can also make 4 cups of your own whipped topping!
CANNED PINEAPPLE: I have used crushed pineapple and pineapple tidbits in this recipe. If using tidbits, drain before using.
How To Make Orange Fluff Salad

STEP 1: In a large bowl, combine the cool whip and cottage cheese. Stir in the jello.
STEP 2: Mix in the drained fruit. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour to allow it to set.
Can This Salad Be Made In Advance?
Yes!! It can be made 1 day in advance. I don’t recommend it any longer because it gets watery the longer it sits. Just give it a quick stir before serving.

Store in an airtight container for up to 2 days. As mentioned above, it will get a little watery the longer it sits.
Can I add In Marshmallows?
Yes! There are some recipes that add in 1 cup of marshmallows.

Orange Fluff Salad
Ingredients
- 1 (8oz) (226g) container whipped topping, thawed
- 1 (12oz) (340g) cottage cheese
- 1 (3oz) (85g) package of orange gelatin
- 2 (10.5oz) (297g) cans mandarin oranges; drained
- 1 (20oz) (567g) can crushed pineapple
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the whipped topping and cottage cheese until well combined. Stir in the jello.
- Stir in the fruit. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving.
