Lemon Mousse
Lemon is just one of those flavors that’s perfect for spring. It’s light, refreshing, sweet, and tangy… it would even be great for summer too. Or fall, or winter, or really any time of the year because lemon is amazing!
Thankfully, these lemon mousse cups aren’t as heavy and rich as some desserts can be. Which is great news, because on a hot summer night, no one wants to feel bloated and weighed down! I hope you enjoy these little lemony clouds in a cup as much as I do!
You’ll create the mousse out of lemon curd, which will speed things up a lot! You can either use store-bought or this top-of-the-line-delicious-beyond-belief Homemade Lemon Curd. 😉 I highly recommend the homemade version because not only does it taste better, but you’ll have leftovers to use on other recipes like Lemon Cheesecake Overnight Oats or this Blueberry Dutch Baby.

Key Ingredients to Make Lemon Curd Mousse
You’ll never believe a dessert as delicious as this one can be made with such few simple ingredients, but it’s true!
- LEMON CURD – Remember, I swear by my homemade version! That said, if you don’t have time to make it from scratch, you can always go for store-bought options.
- HEAVY WHIPPING CREAM – Another important ingredient to make your homemade lemon mousse!
- POWDERED SUGAR – Whip the powdered sugar along with the cream and lemon curd and you’ll have the base of your dessert mousse cups before you know it.
- SHORTBREAD COOKIES – I highly recommend using Walker’s Shortbread Cookies — they’re addicting in the best way possible.
- RASPBERRIES – Opt to use fresh raspberries as your garnish.
Seriously, that’s all you need for lemon curd mousse!

FAQ
I swear by heavy whipping cream for its fat content and flavor. That said, you can always replace it with coconut cream instead! In fact, it’s a great option if one or more of your guests are dairy-free.
I wouldn’t recommend it. Freezing and then thawing these mousse dessert cups will seriously impact their texture. What’s more, the water content in the lemon mousse in particular can lead to ice crystals which will cause a change in consistency. For best results, enjoy these fresh!
To keep the lemon curd mousse from becoming too runny, make sure to whip the heavy cream to stiff peaks before folding in the lemon curd. On the other hand, if your dessert mousse cups become too thick, try adding in a bit more whipped cream or a small amount of milk to get your desired texture. But, be careful not to overmix — it will cause the mousse to go flat!
