Another weekend has gone by and I hope all of you Mother’s had a wonderful one!! Did you have anything special planned, keep it low key or go all out??? As I have mentioned in a previous post we are grilling up a storm lately and slathering this texas style bbq sauce on everything! If you guys like slightly sweet with a little heat then this bbq sauce is for you. Plus, it’s super simple to prepare and takes only 20 minutes to simmer. That may sound like a long time but it really goes by fast and you are rewarded with this awesome bbq sauce!!
Pair this bbq sauce with the pork dry spice rub and you will have one tasty piece of meat!! I used both of these to make a slow cooker pulled pork and it was amazing!! Just the dry rub alone added so much flavor and the bbq sauce just takes it to the next level. Make sure to pile on plenty of bbq sauce and stock up on the napkins so you can eat bbq they way it’s meant to be, messy! 🙂

And if you like things extra hot be sure to up the cayenne pepper. You can make this texas style bbq sauce in advance and keep it in your fridge for at least 2 weeks and probably even longer. We haven’t had any in the fridge past the 2 week mark so I can’t say for sure on that one. Really the vinegar and sugar in this sauce should make it last quite awhile in the fridge.
So in other news, my d-day is fast approaching!!! YAY!!! I will be 36 weeks this Wednesday and my babies are usually born in the 36/37th week!! I am super excited to soon be meeting this little bundle of joy and hold another tiny baby!!
- 1 15 oz can tomato sauce
- 1/2 cup apple juice
- 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1/4 cup packed dark brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons molasses
- 1 tablespoon worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- 2 teaspoons garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon prepared mustard
- 1/4-1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
In a medium sized sauce pan combine all the ingredients and simmer over low heat for 20 minutes. Stir this often while cooking.
This will keep in the refrigerator for at least 2 weeks and probably even longer.
