Today’s post is a simple recipe that everyone should know!! Homemade pumpkin pie spice! How many of you have started a fall baking recipe only to find out you don’t have enough pumpkin pie spice?? Or worse, completely ran out? I have too many times to count. You would think one of these days I would learn my lesson and check to make sure I have all the ingredients before I start baking.
I do usually have all the spices to make this homemade pumpkin pie spice though! And let me tell you something, I actually like it better than the store bought version. I think it has a better flavor, plus it’s fun to whip up a small batch and smell in the wonderful aroma!
Why should you make your own??
Well, let me tell you! For starters, it’s more cost effective than buying something already pre-made at the store, especially if you already have the spices on hand. It won’t go stale as fast because you can make a small batch and use it up in one baking session. You can change up the recipe to suit your tastes. Don’t like nutmeg, leave it out. Really like cinnamon add in a little extra.

- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 1 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
- 3/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg I like freshly grated the best
- 3/4 teaspoon ground clove
- 1/2 teaspoon ground allspice
Combine all ingredients in a small mason jar or old spice jar. Use in any recipe calling for pumpkin pie spice.
