A super simple and delicious breakfast casserole perfect for those busy Sunday mornings, or even a leisurely one! It’s so easy to make that soon enough it’ll be your family’s weekend tradition!
One thing you should know about me – I LOVE breakfast casseroles!
They make for a quick breakfast that looks like you slaved over the oven for hours, and I’m all for minimal effort and maximum impact. 😉
This casserole is a super simple and easy dish to put together and I frequently whip it up on Sundays, hence the name. I’m not a great morning person, so if I can make this and still have time to get myself, 10 kids, and my husband ready for church, I think anyone can.
Ingredients for your Breakfast Casserole
Sunday mornings are always crazy around here so I try to lay out everyone’s clothes and get the diaper bag ready on Saturday night. Somehow everyone is still running around screaming five minutes before it’s time to leave and then I wind up doing my makeup in the car on the way to church (…while tying the girls’ dresses into bows as we are walking up the church steps…and fixing my son’s hair while walking to our pew…can you relate to the chaos?).
So with all that being said, it is crucial to keep all the ingredients simple and easily accessible! All you’ll need is 8 ounces of Pillsbury crescent roll dough, shredded cheddar, eggs, milk, mustard, onion, and bacon (YUM). Of course add salt and pepper to taste!
Like with many of my recipes, I suggest you make this dish your own! If you want to add in chopped sausage instead (or alongside) bacon – go for it! If you want to stir in some spinach to hide some veggies in there – right on! If you want to sautee up some mushrooms to fold into your casserole – holy smokes you’ve really got your life together, don’t you?
Whatever you choose to do, please let me know how it goes!
Simple Sunday Breakfast Casserole Instructions
This is the best part – just throw it all together and bake it! Okay, I’m kidding, there’s a tiny bit more to it but just a tiny bit.
Press the crescent dough in a lightly greased 13”x9” pan and spread it about 1” up each side. Spread your cheese over the bottom of the dough, and in a separate bowl mix together the eggs, milk, mustard, onion, and salt and pepper. Pour that mixture over the cheese, sprinkle the crumbled bacon on top, and bake it!
All it takes is 30 minutes (or until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean)!
