Strawberry Lemonade Margarita
I hope everyone had a wonderful 4th of July!! You know what would’ve make it even better…..this Strawberry Lemonade Margarita!! It’s the perfect summertime drink. It’s cool, refreshing, and perfect for a crowd. Oh, and it’s also super easy to make because I’m using frozen lemonade. Heck, you can even use frozen strawberries and make this easy summer drink that’s loaded with strawberry and lemonade flavors in a few minutes! So sorry I didn’t post this sooner in time for you to try over the 4th but life has definitely happened this week!!
I absolutely love the color of this lemonade margarita and I love the taste even better, let’s just say it goes down REALLY easy!! (I have made this pitcher of strawberry lemonade margaritas 3 times this past week!!)
What is the best tequila for Margaritas?
Since we aren’t drinking it straight no need to reach for the most expensive (top shelf) tequila. But having said that don’t use the cheapest you can find either. I like a middle ground. Use a Reposado or Gold (which is what I used in this recipe) tequila. Smooth enough to be mixed in with a fruity drink.
Is Triple Sec and Cointreau the same thing?
Why yes they are. And actually, Cointreau is a brand of triple sec and a good one too! Triple Sec is just an orange liquor which is a sweetened alcohol flavored with orange flavoring.
But like I mentioned earlier don’t spend too much money on liquor thinking that the most expensive is the way to go. I know just sipping liquors alone you can tell a big difference in quality but for some reason when everything is mixed together a person really can’t tell. And even more so when we are adding strawberries and lemonade.
I have a question to ask you guys. Do you salt the rims of your glasses??? I’m probably going to be in the minority here but I don’t…..it’s just not my favorite. My husband prefers a margarita with salt, me however not so much. Maybe I need to give it another try now that I’m older and my tastes have changed but I just can’t convince myself that I will like it, lol!
But anyway be sure to give this Strawberry Lemonade Margarita a try at your next party and be prepared to make another batch because it’s that good!! 🙂
How to make this Strawberry Lemonade Margarita Non-Alcoholic:
If you would like to make this drink without the alcohol, no problem, I got you covered. Simply replace the tequila and triple sec with 12 ounces of Canada Dry or club soda (depending on how sweet you like it) and 1/3 cup fresh orange juice.
- 1 pound (454g) Fresh strawberries, stems removed
- 1 (12oz)(355ml) Can frozen lemonade, thawed
- 1 cup (236ml) Water
- 1-1 1/2 cups (236-354ml) Tequilla
- 1/2-3/4 cup (118-177ml) Triple sec
- Juice of 1 lime
- Coarse salt for salting rims + extra limes
In a large blender combine the strawberries, lemonade, and water. Process until smooth. Pour into a large pitcher and stir in Tequila, Triple Sec, and lime juice.
Using a lime wedge moisten the rim of a glass and dip into salt. Fill glass with desired amount of ice and fill with strawberry lemonade margarita.
- Fresh strawberries can be replaced with frozen. Your choice whether to defrost them or not.
- I gave ranges for the alcohol for those that like it a little stronger. I'm a weenie and prefer it on the weaker side, but that's just me.
- Non-Alcoholic version: Simply replace the tequila and triple sec with 12 ounces of Canada Dry or club soda (depending on how sweet you like it) and 1/3 cup fresh orange juice.
