These Peppermint Patty Brownies are the most decadent and fudgy brownies you’ll ever taste, and they have a burst of mint that comes through in the middle from the layer of peppermint. These thick and gooey brownies are here to change your life!
Why I Love Peppermint Patty Brownies
This is probably the best brownie recipe I have ever made! Yes, I’m saying I love them even more than my Homemade Chewy Brownies! These dark chocolate peppermint patty brownies are decadent and delicious!
I wanted to create the perfectly thick and fudgy brownie to complement the cool minty burst in the middle, and I’d say (along with my kids) they are a complete success!
Plus, they’re so easy to make! In this recipe, we use actual peppermint patties so that we can cut down on unnecessary work and use our time wisely. And guess what, these brownies come out bakery-worthy delicious!
Key Ingredients For Peppermint Brownies
When I used to make brownies, they’d come out super cakey and far from extraordinary. I didn’t get the hype until I finally had a thick brownie that was all fudgy textured goodness.
To achieve that consistency, you’re going to need some surprisingly simple ingredients! Start with the basics: flour, sugar, salt, butter, eggs, and vanilla. Then you’ll need cocoa powder, heavy cream, bittersweet chocolate, and small peppermint patties.
The combination of these individual parts makes the most delicious brownies you’ll ever eat!
Instructions to Make Peppermint Patty Brownies
Step 1: Preheat and Prep
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F and grease a 9×9 inch baking dish. Set it aside while the oven preheats.
Step 2: Combine Dry Ingredients
In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, and salt.
Step 3: Combine Wet Ingredients
In a small microwave-safe bowl, melt the butter and chocolate together, stirring every 30 seconds to avoid burning. Stir in the cream, eggs, and vanilla, and then add this wet mixture to the dry ingredients and stir it together until it’s combined.
Step 4: Add Peppermint Patties
Spread half of the brownie batter in the bottom of the greased pan. Top the batter with peppermint patties (unwrapped of course!) and then spread the remaining brownie batter carefully over the patties. Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean. Let them cool completely before cutting them into bars.
Step 5: Serve and Enjoy
Serve your peppermint patty brownies with a generous scoop of ice cream and a drizzle of hot fudge sauce if desired. If not, enjoy them on their own!
FAQ
The amount of fat in comparison to the amount of flour. This recipe uses butter and chocolate, along with heavy cream. If we wanted a cakier brownie, we’d use more flour to outweigh the fats from those ingredients.
Using milk instead of water, usually! Again, it comes down to fats and creaminess. Since we use heavy cream in this recipe, there’s plenty of creaminess to go around and make sure the brownies are fudgy.
You can store them at room temperature in a sealed container! They’ll keep for about a week, but I doubt they’ll last that long. They’ll be gobbled up in no time!
