These apple and peanut butter granola sandwiches are a fun, yummy, and healthy way to switch up after-school snack time! My kids gobble these up in the afternoon, and thankfully, they only require three simple ingredients. 

Apples, peanut butter, and granola make up this simple recipe, but you can get creative with it. I like to use my homemade maple almond granola for some extra flavor and crunch, but my kids love the chocolate and peanut butter granola I make too! It’s nice because you can swap out different flavors to satisfy your (and your kids) cravings. 

Another amazing thing about these snacks is that they’re portable! They’re perfect for a long drive, a picnic, or school lunches. Just wrap them up and hit the road! ​​

This snack is so easy! All you need is a couple of apples, the nut butter of your choosing, and granola (store-bought or homemade).

How to Make Granola Sandwiches 

Step 1: Prep Apple

Start by washing and coring the apples and then slicing them into rings. 

Step 2: Add Peanut Butter and Granola

Spread your choice of nut butter over two apple slices and sprinkle one with a layer of granola. Then, place the apple slice without granola on top of the granola to make a sandwich. 

Step 3: Press and Repeat

Press slightly and repeat with the other slices.

What variations could I make of this recipe?

You can make your apple granola sandwiches however you want! Add a dollop of or Nutella instead of (or in addition to) the peanut butter. Cottage cheese is a more savory option that adds both flavor and texture to this snack. You can also use a different flavor of granola to switch things up! Sprinkle chia seeds, drizzle with honey, top with berries – the options are endless!

Are apples with peanut butter healthy?

Apples are a fruit, rife with nutrition, and peanut butter has loads of protein and healthy fats. Put them together and you have double the goodness! This is one of those snacks that I like to call “sneaky healthy” because it tastes so good that the kids don’t even realize it’s better for them than candy!

You can make them a couple of hours, or maybe a day ahead of time. If you’re running out for the day and bringing them as a snack, just wrap them up and go – no fridge required. If you’re prepping them a couple days ahead, I’d keep them in an airtight container in the fridge until you’re ready to serve. Keep in mind that they’re best served immediately and the longer you leave them in the fridge the mushier they’ll get.
